Leigh Bowery, The Deity which inspired many.

Hello Readers,

Today’s post is all about Leigh Bowery and why I find him such a huge inspiration.

Leigh Bowery(Rest In Peace), was a Fashion designer who came from an Australian Performance back ground and was also known for the Infamous Club Night called Taboo Nights hosted in our Capital City, London.

If you are an avid Fashion Lover like me you will know about Bowery’s literal Art that Walked, and by this I mean his outfits. He was a Club Kid in his own right but with a very unique take on how one should be presented to the world.

CATEGORY IS…. ORVILLE THE DUCK REALNESS

As a Fashion Designer, Leigh held countless shows in London, New York and Tokyo. To me this shows the perfect Marketing Strategy by appealing to people on a Global scale.

Lets talk about Taboo

During his residence within London, He created a Club called Taboo which began as an underground party. When it became a club in 1985 it soon became the “Place to Be”, the explanation I have to try get you to picture it would be Think of Studio 54 but a British Revival of Greatness. Illegal substances became the centre of Taboo Nights especially Ecstasy. Although Drugs were present this wasn’t the only thing that got people talking and gave people the sudden urge to attend, it was known for defying sexual convention, embracing Polysexualism, for playing an unexpected song list and its Wild atmosphere.

Polysexualism is the attraction to most but not all genders.

Bowery Inspired many artists and designers for years including today in some new collections. He inspired the likes of Alexander McQueen and Vivian Westwood. He was also the Muse and Model of Famous Painter Lucien Freud.

Leigh will continue to inspire Mainstream media for years too come, as he has became the inspiration for many niches within the media such as Tranimal Drag, which is a new wave of Drag Performance inspired by wildlife. He was also the subject Contemporary Dance, Physical Theatre and Circus Show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

There are many things I could say about how Great and Ground Breaking Mr Bowery was.

Back in 2002, Boy George created a Musical called Taboo he was the creative force which drove this, lyricist and performer. It was that great it even Opened up on Broadway.

I hope you all enjoyed this little read and please go ahead and look into Bowery his essence is pretty much felt throughout the decades of Drag, Fashion and Performance.
